Frequently Asked Questions:

Question: What fastener torque is recommended for AO Customs silicone gaskets?

Answer: There is not a one-size-fits-all answer to this question. Much like rubber or silicone o-rings the silicone gaskets will “squish", which is normal and good. But too much squish and the gasket may be damaged or pushed out of position from between the parts it is supposed to be sealing. When I install these gaskets I snug the fasteners by hand and use my eyes to watch how much the gasket is squishing. If you are unsure please fell free to contact me however convenient for you.

Question: Should I use a thread-locking compound when installing AO Customs silicone gaskets?

Answer: Yes! The silicone is squishy which is great for sealing but does allow some fasteners to vibrate loose. A medium-grade thread locker is recommended for any fastener that is being used to hold a silicone gasket in place.

Question: Can you or will you make a gasket for XYZ engine, transmission, rear-end, chainsaw, etc.

Answer: Yes, absolutely. If you have a part that needs a custom gasket made please contact me however convenient for you.
